July 26th, 2012 @ 3pm.
Exactly one year (to the hour) from the time Tim was scheduled for his sentencing last year, we will be honoring a moment of silence — for the harsh sentence he received as well as the fate of other political prisoners across time and borders. Afterwards, we hope you’ll join us for some hijinks and ruckus to commemorate Tim’s sentencing.
We want to commemorate those who have been to jail for justice, those who are currently suffering inhumane treatment for the courage of their convictions, and all of those who have come before them.
To name a few:
Bradley Manning; Leonard Peltier; Mumia Abu Jamal; Luis Rodriguez; Daniel McGowan; Assata Shakur; Aung San Suu Kyi, Benazir Bhutto, Alice Paul & many many more.
[note color=”#EFDB63″]At NOON, we’ll also be hosting a THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED workshop — using theatre as means of promoting and creating social change, by inviting the audience to become “Spect-Actors” in transforming their reality.
At 3 PM, join us for some hijinks and ruckus to commemorate Tim’s sentencing.[/note]
This day coincides with our community’s response to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), holding their 39th Annual Conference in the heart of Salt Lake City. A wide coalition has come together to “welcome” ALEC, in an effort to expose this perfect example of government and corporate collusion.
