Urgent Update:
Tim’s Trial has been delayed a third time: the new date is December 13. If you would like to receive the most up-to-date information, you can sign up for our Climate Trial Email Updates.
We realize that not everyone will be able to travel to Salt Lake City to participate in the Climate Trial, so we want to bring the trial action to you–wherever you are! To show solidarity for Tim’s actions to prevent catastrophic climate change, we are inviting people to organize actions in their own communities in convergence with the trial.
If you don’t already see an action near you, we invite you to register an event now, and then start organizing people in your community to take action.
The actions can be anything you imagine them to be, but to help you get started, here are a few ideas and suggestions:
- Visit our Climate Trial Resources and Downloads page:
- Print some Bidder 70 signs and take photos of people holding them. This will show our unity worldwide.
- Create banners for people to show their message.
- Host some street theater. These actions can use satire to call out climate injustice, as well as send an inspiring message of what real climate justice looks like.
- Have people there to record video and take pictures, tag them with #climatetrial then upload them to Flickr, YouTube, or any other service so that we can post them online and show them in Salt Lake City the next day of the trial. No action is too small! Let’s make sure ALL of them are well documented!
- Alternatively, you can email photos and videos to climatetrial@peacefuluprising.org
- Alert the media of your event and prepare a message of solidarity to share with your community.
- If you want to have a bigger impact, take direct action!
- This can take many forms, from banner drops at coal-fired power plants, to making citizens’ arrests of local polluters at their offices. The sky is the limit. Remember, we are out of time to address this problem.
- Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone. To some, that will be asking 50 people to hold bidder 70 signs, to others, stopping a coal train through nonviolent civil disobedience.
- When enough people discover their true power as individuals, we will reach the “critical mass” for a real Uprising. Only then can we ensure a livable future for ourselves and our children. We must start moving away from online petitions and toward real meaningful disruption of the fossil fuel industry.
