Atlanta Move to Amend
Rally to End Corporate PERSONHOOD
along with 100 rallies around the US on this date(See flier)
Purpose:
Call attention to the second anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Citizen’s United v. FEC decision, a ruling overturning longstanding rules limiting corporate spending in our political process. The decision was a victory for already powerful industries and their lobbying firms over the voice of the citizen and the charities that support we the people.
The rally will raise awareness of the need to amend the Constitution to end this corporate dominance and is part of a national effort to draw attention to the greatest problem of our time.. Speakers and artists will deliver short but powerful messages on the impact the decision is having on our politics, jobs, schools, environment, public services, military, and basic freedoms.
What: RALLY to END CORPORATE PERSONHOOD,
Join us in PEACEFUL PROTEST( No arrests)
When: Friday, January 20, 2012 beginning at 2 PM
Where: Courtyard of the Richard B. Russell Federal Building, 75 Spring Street, Atlanta, GA 30303
Concerned citizens, community groups, media – Speakers, Music, street theatre, Occupy marchers
Goals of Atlanta Move to Amend:
Short term goal is to amend the US Constitution to revoke corporate personhood. The Move to Amend amendment will clearly establish that:
Corporations are not people and can be regulated,
Money is not speech and can be regulated,
and will allow No Corporate Loopholes in establishing these goals.
Our amendment will put people back in charge of our government and put corporations in their proper place. We the people will achieve this by peacefully speaking out, raising awareness, and demanding that those who represent us get to work for us by writing this change into law.
Long-term goals of Atlanta Move to Amend are to continue to restore democracy and economic fairness to our country by influencing public opinion, shaping public laws, coaching public officials and exposing the imbalance and shameful, hidden economics being practiced against citizens.
