“Not One More Deportation” Rally in Solidarity with the Cañenguez Family

When: Friday, April, 4th 2014 at 8:30am
Location: 3025 South Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City, UT 84119

More than 1,000 people are deported every day under the Obama administration. It is estimated that by April, 2 MILLION people will have been deported, the highest number of deportations executed under any administration.

Ana Cañenguez and her four sons are one of the many families who look at their future with uncertainty as they fight an order of deportation under the 400,000 deportation quota the Department of Homeland Security sets every year.

On Friday, April 4th, the Salt Lake Dream Team will organize a rally to unite Utahns in standing up against a history inhumane policies which have blatantly disregarded the livelihood of people living south of the northern hemisphere and in non-industrialized nations. Our message will be echoed by thousands of other conscientious individuals throughout the U.S. who will be organizing and attending anti-deportation rallies as part of the “Not One More” campaign organized by the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. Together we will demand accountability for the decades of neoliberalism the U.S. has imposed on countries like El Salvador, which have concentrated political and economic power in the hands of oligarchs and stripped generations of people like the Cañenguez from the right to live dignified lives in their home countries.

We will not stand by while our communities and families are separated and displaced once again. Together we will shout “Not One More!”

Sample Script:  “Hello my name is _________ and I am calling [name of target] to stop the deportation of Ana Canenguez (A#200189530) and her 4 sons: Job (A#200696531), Geovanny (A#200696530), Mario 14 (A#200189351), and Erick 12 (A#200189352); three of whom are all below the age of 18 and have no criminal records. The family truly fear for their lives if they are deported back into the hands of gangs in El Salvador. They are very loved in the community of Tremonton, Utah. Please grant prosecutorial discretion and stop their deportation now.”
