The Tar Sands Fight Grows Rowdier

In 2014, climate justice activists in Utah launched an ongoing vigil to stop tar sands mining in Utah. High Country News writer Cally Carswell reported on the growing movement to stop tar sands mining in Utah and some of the events that transpired within it. In “Faces of the Climate Movement: Rowdier and Rowdier,” you can read about one of the protests on the East Tavaputs Plateau. And in “The Unusual Occupation at Utah’s Book Cliffs,” you can read a longer essay by Carswell about what motivated the broader movement as well as this particular struggle!
