Friday Uprising: Koch Industries

Friday Uprising HomepageSALT LAKE CITY, UT (KRCL) – Justices Clarence Thomas and Anton Scalia are reported to have attended closed door meetings with Koch Industries, the nation’s second largest private company and funder of right-wing political organizations. Our guest Bob Edgar wants to know if the appearance of impropriety is enough to disqualify a judge from a decision– specifically Citizen’s United v. Federal Election Commission. He is the CEO of Common Cause, a nonpartisan organization working to strengthen public participation in government. We’re also joined by local activist Ashley Sanders who offers her analysis of the Citizen’s United decision that has increased corporate giving to political campaigns 330% in the 2010 midterm elections. Can the average citizen compete with corporate dollars? www.commoncause.org, www.movetoamend.org © Copyright 2011, krcl
